LA based Artist Mark Bradford chosen to represent the USA at the Venice Biennale

April 21, 2016

Mark Bradford was just chosen to represent the United States at the 2017 Venice Biennale, arguably one of the highest honors any artist can ever receive.    He recently had a solo show at the Hammer Museum here in Los Angeles, and it was a true wonder to see so many of his works together.  His work needs to be seen and experienced in person for it truly has a dimensionality to it that cannot be reproduced on a computer screen.  Rather than using paint, he employs layers and layers of paper of all sorts, as well as misc tapes, and other items one might find at your local Home Depot. He then digs into these layers with misc tools to reveal what lies within these built up paper layers. It really is genius work.  The Broad Museum has a number of his large pieces if you are curious to see one in person.  Maison Luxe highly recommends a trip to see his work.  For a recent LA Times article click here:
